BBT is very sensitive to your sleep patterns and movements, so being consistent is important to getting accurate results. Make sure to measure your BBT as soon as you wake up and before you get out of bed, eat or drink, smoke, or brush your teeth. Make sure to record your temperature after you take it or sync it with the Mira app if using the Mira BBT thermometer. Additionally, make sure to take your temperature around the same time each morning - within an hour of your usual wake time. If you sleep in or wake up earlier than usual, your temperature may be inaccurate. Other things that can impact your BBT include:
- Alcohol consumption the night before
- Fever or illness
- Poor sleep
- Changes in room temperature - hotter or colder than usual
- Travel, especially across time zones
